After a months-long investigation, the San José Police Department has apprehended all eight suspects in connection with a January carjacking incident, which occurred near the intersection of Sandpebble Drive and Vista Park Drive in San José. The violent event culminated in the suspects assaulting a male victim before making off with his vehicle. The San José Police Department's Robbery Unit, with contributions from Patrol Officers and the Real Time Intelligence Center, coordinated efforts leading to the arrest of the individuals involved.

The robbery took place on January 12 and involved seven male suspects and Hector Sanchez, an 18-year-old, leveraging their vehicles to corner and then physically assault the victim, according to details from the San José Police Department. After the attack, the suspects absconded with the victim's keys, and later, the vehicle was found abandoned at Valleyhaven Way and Stoneyhaven Way. Detectives managed to secure arrest and search warrants following a thorough investigation into the various suspects' linked addresses.

The arrests unfolded over several weeks, with the first suspect, a juvenile already detained for an unrelated offense, being charged on March 25. A second juvenile was taken into custody on March 27 and booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. The operation continued on May 1, as the San José Police Department's Covert Response Unit nabbed Sanchez and four more juveniles in San José, while another was arrested in Livermore with the assistance of local police. Subsequently, the adults and juveniles were charged with offenses connected to carjacking, assault, and robbery.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward. "Anyone with information about these cases or similar cases is asked to contact Detective Hernandez #4392 of the San José Police Department Robbery Unit," a statement from the San José Police Department read. Communication can be directed to Detective Hernandez through email at [email protected] or by calling 408-277-4166.
