Last night in Petaluma, an attempted robbery resulted in an arrest and added drug possession charges for a 16-year-old Santa Rosa boy. According to a report by the Petaluma Police Department, at around midnight, officers were called to the 2000 block of Gilrix Street where a male juvenile suspect had allegedly tried to rob two individuals at gunpoint, then chased them when they refused to comply.

The incident unfolded as the victim and a friend were heading home, encountering the suspect who was acting erratically, and after a brief exchange of words the suspect demanded "Give me everything you got" however no weapon was seen and the victim, along with their friend fled on foot with the juvenile in pursuit, a chase that led to the swift response from the Petaluma Police. Officers located a suspect matching the juvenile's description hiding beneath a vehicle near the crime scene, and after an in-field show-up, the victim positively identified the youth as the chaser.

The young suspect didn't just face charges for attempted robbery; a search by officers turned up a medical bottle with multiple Alprazolam pills, better known as Xanax, that were not prescribed to him, resulting in additional charges for possession of a controlled substance. It was also discovered that he was on active Sonoma County Juvenile Probation at the time of the incident.

Following the identification and subsequent search, the suspect was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall, where he's being held on charges of attempted robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
