Tragedy struck Seattle's South Park neighborhood last night as a pedestrian suffered fatal injuries following a collision with a car. According to a report from KING 5, the accident occurred at the intersection of 14th Avenue South and South Henderson Street around 11 p.m. Seattle Police and medics from the Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene, where they discovered a 60-year-old man with serious injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While Seattle fire crews were performing life-saving measures on the man, as noted by FOX 13 Seattle, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The recent fatality echoes a grim history at this particular intersection. Previously, on Dec. 9, as reported by The Seattle Times, a 56-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car at the same crossroads.
The driver involved in the December incident was a 24-year-old who, according to police, was not impaired at the time of the accident. The nature of Thursday night's collision remains under investigation by police. The extent of the efforts made by first responders underscores the gravity of the situation and the peril pedestrians can face at neglected intersections known for their hazards.
