On June 5, a pause will be felt across many of Seattle's recreational hubs as the city gears up to enhance its staff's prowess in serving our communities. Seattle Parks and Recreation announced a significant number of its facilities will shut their doors to the public to host an all-hands staff training day.
For those planning to drop by a community center, take a dip in a municipal pool, or engage in teen programs on this date, a change of plans is in order. These services, including indoor swimming pools, environmental learning centers, and several boating centers, are set to close for the day. Seattle's Amy Yee Tennis Center, renowned for its courts and training programs, will also be inaccessible, as will be the Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, among others.
However, all is not lost for those looking to bask in the offerings of the Emerald City. The great outdoors, in its immutable vastness, will remain open and invite exploration and leisure. Parks, volunteer-run botanical gardens, boat ramps, golf courses, and lifeguarded beaches will operate as usual, ensuring options remain plentiful for the recreation seeker. In fact, the sprayparks, brimming with the laughter of children, will continue to sprinkle joy unabated on this day of indoor educational endeavors.
