The Petaluma Fairgrounds has been marred by a malicious streak of vandalism, with the most recent incident involving an unknown individual shattering a livestock office window. On Tuesday, someone took to the Fairgrounds with a destructive intent, wielding what looked to be a hammer, according to the Petaluma Police Department. A statement, obtained by the department, revealed that an "unknown suspect, approached the window, and hit the window with what appeared to be a hammer causing it to shatter."
This latest bout of felony vandalism, caught clearly on video surveillance around 8:20 PM, is eerily reminiscent of a similar crime that struck the same window on April 17. Though that window had been repaired and returned to its pristine condition, the same cannot be said for the suspect, who remains in the shadows, elusive to the watchful eyes of law enforcement. Earlier incidents, like the scattering of nails and glass near the newly installed pickleball courts, seem to feed into a pattern of disruptive behavior that has yet to be curtailed by authorities.
Determined to leave no stone unturned, the Petaluma Police are ramping up their presence, calling upon the local community to aid in their vigilant watch. The investigation has taken to the streets to capture the perpetrator behind the hammer. As the force increases detection and prevention measures, the public is urged to play its part. "We encourage anyone who has information regarding these incidents to call Officer Reid Daut," noted a departmental release.
