The City of St. Augustine has announced it's warming up for another season of live music with the return of Concerts in the Plaza, a staple of the local community offering free performances every Thursday night. The plaza will hum with melodies from May 29 all the way to August 28, with a lineup that promises both fan favorites and fresh faces ready to serenade residents and visitors alike.
The series spans over 14 weeks of concerts, each lasting from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, providing a soundtrack to summer evenings and a golden opportunity for attendees to also indulge in local commerce and merriment post-show, according to the City of St. Augustine's official website. St. Johns County (SJC) residents who've tagged their vehicles under the city's parking program can snag relatively cheaper parking for just $3 per entry at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility, while visitors and other attendees might have to shell out $20, or $5 after 5:00pm if they're not registered with the program.
For those who prefer a car-free experience or want to avoid post-concert traffic, the STAR Downtown Circulator offers convenient shuttle service between the parking garage and Cathedral Place, near the heart of the festivities; the shuttle runs daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm. So, whether one drives, hitches a ride on the shuttle, or opts for another mode of transit, access to the revelry won't be an issue.
Florida's infamous summer rains may sometimes pose a threat to the outdoor fun, and while potential concert cancellations or delays due to inclement weather always hang in the balance, such decisions are expected to be made last-minute because of the unpredictable nature of the showers; music lovers should pay close attention to the city's website or their Facebook page for real-time updates and announcements concerning the status of the concerts on the day of.
