The National Weather Service in St. Louis is forecasting a week that's set to bring a medley, of unpredictable and possibly disruptive weather to the region. According to the latest report from the NWS, St. Louis metro area residents can expect a slight chance of showers today with a 20% chance of precipitation and a high near 71 degrees. The light winds turning from east to southeast could be bringing in more than just a breeze, with a 40% chance of showers later tonight.

As we move into the week, Sunday is also looking a bit shaky. The forecast promises showers and thunderstorms likely before 4pm, followed by a chance of more showers, boasting a 60% chance of precipitation. The gloom doesn't lift for Memorial Day either; residents should prepare for showers likely with highs in the mid-60s. Even after the holiday, those looking to catch a break from the rain might have to wait a bit longer. There's a continued chance of showers and thunderstorms heading into Tuesday, with an almost unchanging chance of precipitation set at 50%.

It seems as though a brief reprieve could be in store by midweek. The NWS anticipates partly sunny skies on Wednesday with a high near 75. But don't put those umbrellas away just yet: by Thursday, thunderstorms may re-enter the chat with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, which persists into Friday.

Beyond the temperamental showers and storms, the NWS has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the broader region across eastern and central Missouri, as well as west central and southwest Illinois. For those with outdoor plans or travel itineraries, it's recommended to stay informed about the latest weather conditions. "A few thunderstorms are possible this morning and tonight" per the NWS statement, which also outlines a chance of thunderstorms from Sunday all through to Tuesday and picking up again on Thursday and Friday. No spotter activation is expected at this time, however, it always pays to be prepared.
