In a straightforward twist of local crime, the Stoneham Police Department has placed one Sean Dolan, a 38-year-old resident of Stoneham, behind bars for charges related to a bungled robbery attempt at a liquor store, reported Stoneham PD News.

Dolan faces grim prospects with charges including Armed Assault with Intent to Rob and Attempt to Commit a Crime — Armed Robbery While Masked stemming from the incident, which took place on the evening of May 10 at Redstone Liquors, located at 115 Main St, where Dolan allegedly entered with a knife and a mask demanded cash but fled the scene prematurely when store clerks swiftly called for backup, no money or goods were stolen during the incident, as per Stoneham PD News.

This botched theft set off an investigation where Stoneham Police, leaning on video footage and witness testimonies, pegged Dolan as their prime suspect; Dolan was nabbed a few days later on an unrelated offense – joyriding without a license – but it was the found mask in his vehicle that linked him to the May 10 fiasco.

Thanks to cooperative police work, involving the Melrose, Wakefield, and Woburn departments, plus diligent Stoneham officers such as Chris Smith, Nicholas Palmieri, Stephen Chatelle, Sgt. Christopher Murphy, Detective Sean O’Grady, and Detective Chris Copan, Dolan was arrested yesterday, after a warrant surfaced from the Woburn District Court, and the following day with help from Wakefield Police Dolan was captured without a scene; he's slated for arraignment in Woburn District Court come Wednesday.

Stoneham Police Chief James O’Connor extended gratitude to the assisting departments, as well as his own team for seeing this case through to a resolution, "I want to thank Wakefield, Melrose and Woburn Police for their assistance with this investigation, and I want to recognize all of our personnel who were involved in bringing this case to a successful conclusion," Chief O’Connor told Stoneham PD News. Yet, as with all suspects, Dolan holds the title of 'innocent until proven guilty' in the eyes of the law as we await the forthcoming legal process.
