A tragic event unfolded late last Friday night when a woman was fatally stabbed at a home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a suburb just south of Charlotte. The victim, 37-year-old Leonor Alpizar was found with multiple stab wounds at around 10:30 p.m. on Iris Circle and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital as per WBTV.
The suspect, 41-year-old Pedro Mondragon-Ramirez, who police believe was in a relationship with Alpizar, fled the scene in the victim's vehicle. He was later apprehended by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department after a chase, as detailed by WCCB Charlotte. Upon his arrest early Saturday morning, Mondragon-Ramirez was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail, awaiting extradition to South Carolina. QC News states that he has been charged with murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime. Additionally, an ICE detainer has been placed on Mondragon-Ramirez, according to court documents cited by WCCB Charlotte.
