
In a recent police operation, the Tampa Police Department, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, has taken into custody a 25-year-old man on charges related to child pornography. The suspect, identified as Jose Guerrero, Jr., faces 100 counts of possession of such illegal content. The investigation was ignited by a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which pointed to activity that occurred from November 2024 to January 2025.
The Tampa Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, alongside peers from the FDLE's Cyber Crimes Unit, were quick to fully investigate the tip-off. The Tampa Police Department, they confirmed the possession of child pornography after a thorough review of the provided evidence. Guerrero became the prime suspect after detectives traced leads that were part of the cyber-tip report.
Yesterday, authorities executed a search warrant at Guerrero’s residence located at 6611 N. 50th St, leading to his arrest. The evidence found on the premises substantiated charges involving the possession of 10 or more images of child pornography. Following the arrest, Guerrero was sent to Orient Road Jail.
"The seriousness of this crime cannot be overstated; it represents the brutal harming and exploitation of children," said Chief Lee Bercaw in a stern warning highlighted by the Tampa Police Department. He vowed to continue to relentlessly pursue and hold accountable those involved in the possession and distribution of child pornography.
