The Lone Star State rises once more as a beacon of economic expansion with Governor Greg Abbott at the helm, announcing Texas’ leading position in national job growth. In a recent press release, Gov. Abbott highlighted Texas’ addition of 37,700 nonfarm jobs in April, and a substantial yearly increase of 215,500 jobs from April 2024 to April 2025. Since January 2015, when the Governor took office, the state has seen a remarkable increase of 2,515,200 jobs. This achievement is revealed in data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and celebrated by the Texas Workforce Commission’s reports on employment highs.
The growth, according to Gov. Abbott, stems from Texas’ swift embrace of business needs. "Texas is the No. 1 state in the nation for job creation because Texas moves at the speed of business," he said, lauding his state's appeal to corporate relocations and expansions, as per a report by the Governor's Office. Last week, Abbott signed into law new legislation aimed at reinforcing Texas' business-friendly landscape, offering assurances that courts would not “second-guess” sound business decisions made in the interest of shareholders.
Furthermore, these legislative efforts coalesce with the Governor’s vision to ensure that Texas remains a formidable environment for business innovation and longevity. Three critical bills were inaugurated to enhance Texas’ capital market, with the intention to, as Governor Abbott phrases it, "remain the Best State for Business and the best state for job creation for decades to come," as noted by the Governor's Office. This sentiment is echoed by Texas' impressive employment figures and new records for total jobs, not to mention the growing size of its labor force that were celebrated last Friday by Governor Abbott.
