
Tim Gasperson, who has nearly 25 years of experience in corrections, has been appointed as the new Division Director for Community Supervision in Judicial Division 4 by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). His tenure began yesterday. Gasperson will oversee community supervision operations across 25 counties in western North Carolina, advancing from his previous role as Assistant Division Director in the same region, which he has held since 2023, as reported by NCDAC.
Tim Gasperson began his career in 2000 as a probation/parole officer in Rockingham County. He progressed through several positions, becoming a probation/parole officer II in 2002, then a district field specialist, and later a chief probation/parole officer before taking on his most recent role. Leslie Cooley Dismukes, Secretary for the Department of Adult Correction, praised Gasperson’s leadership and management abilities, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the district effectively as efforts continue to strengthen Western North Carolina.
Tracy K. Lee, Deputy Secretary for Community Supervision, also expressed confidence in Gasperson’s preparedness to take on the new role, "With nearly 25 years of service, Tim is more than ready to take the reins in his division," she said, "he has continually demonstrated his dedication and value as he’s risen through the ranks," according to the press release.
Throughout his career, Gasperson has gained extensive experience in supervisory roles, overseeing officers involved with Adult Recovery Court, Sobriety Court, Transitional Housing Program, and the management of sex offenders. His promotion is supported by this diverse background as well as his academic achievements, including his education at Western Carolina University and completion of the NCDAC Correctional Leadership Development Program. NCDAC officials anticipate that his tenure will contribute to growth and strengthened community relations within Western North Carolina’s judicial system.
