Big news for public transit users in Fort Collins: Transfort is increasing service availability on multiple routes, bringing back evening services and restoring the late-night MAX service to its previous glory. The announcement, made by the city's public transportation operator, outlines a series of optimistic changes slated to begin May 19, aimed at reconnecting the community with easier access to work, schools, healthcare, and entertainment venues.

Specifically, Route 6 will see a return to full service, including evening runs with the last bus leaving the CSU Transit Center at 9:50 p.m.; Route 7 will offer 30-minute intervals starting bright and early at 6:45 a.m. and shifting to an hourly cadence post 6:15 p.m., until the last bus at 10:15 p.m., Route 16's evening service is also making a comeback, with its final departure from the South Transit Center set for 9:45 p.m., while Route 19 gears up for a full-service revival, featuring 30-minute service during the peak hours around PSD and CSU’s schedules. Meanwhile, the MAX isn't shy about joining this expansion party, promising full service Monday through Saturday, including that sought-after late-night service it's renowned for, the last northbound will head off from STC at 11:33 p.m., while the southbound bids its final adieu from the Downtown Transit Center at the stroke of midnight.

As obtained by the City of Fort Collins, Kaley Zeisel, Transit Director, illuminated the vision behind these updates "These service updates will make it easier for people to reach jobs, education, healthcare and entertainment," she explained, underscoring Transfort's commitment to fortifying the economy through enhanced connectivity within the community. The announcement is more than mere logistics; it's about stitching together the fabric of a city often separated by the availability of transit as day turns to night.
