The Vallejo Police Department has reported a successful apprehension of a repeat offender following a burglary incident in the city. On Wednesday, patrol officers responded to a call from the owner of a business on the 1300 block of Tennessee Street, after a male suspect had broken in, vandalized the premises, causing approximately $500 in damages, and fled with valuable equipment, according to a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department.

The business owner's surveillance system alerted her when the thief brazenly returned the next day. She confronted the man still in possession of her stolen equipment bag and retrieved it. The suspect fled the scene, after which the Vallejo Police urged the public not to confront suspects, as these situations are unpredictable and could be dangerous. "Please call 911 and let our officers introduce themselves to the suspect," the Vallejo Police Department warned. Later the same day, the offender was spotted near a business on the 400 block of Broadway Street and was arrested by the officers who discovered he was on felony probation out of Solano County for vehicle theft and was wanted on two other outstanding arrest warrants, he also had in his possession a glass-shattering tool used in burglaries.

Following his detainment, the suspect was Mirandized and admitted to the burglary, apparently claiming it was a bid to find reprieve from the sun’s heat. The Vallejo Police Department confirmed the apprehension of the suspect and his subsequent booking into Solano County Jail on charges including burglary, probation violations, and outstanding warrants.
