On Monday, Vallejo police officers conducted a routine traffic stop that became a patchwork quilt of felonies. They uncovered more than an illegal car tint and a mismatched license plate. According to the Vallejo Police Department's social media post, what began as a traffic intervention due to an obscured view became a full-blown felony charge sheet.
At the intersection of Marin and Indiana Streets, their attention caught by the glare of the sun struggling through overly darkened windows of a white Infiniti, officers established that the temporary license plate affixed did not fit the automobile it was carried by, instead belonging to a Ford. Conducting a stop based on these infractions, they spotted a firearm on the car floor, its extended magazine impossible to miss, outshining even the misattributed vehicle tag.
Upon investigating, the discovery was made that the driver was a previously convicted felon, thus someone who, by law, should never meet metal with gunpowder again. However, during a search preceding the car's towing, over 220 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and small plastic baggies were found.
The driver, arrested on multiple felony charges including possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana for sale, was booked into Solano County Jail.
