For homeowners in Vancouver struggling with property taxes, help is on the horizon with two events designed to guide residents through the process of applying for tax relief. The Clark County Assessor's office is reaching out, offering information and enrollment assistance to senior citizens and people with disabilities, who may qualify for the county's property tax exemption program.
According to a statement from the Clark County Assessor's office, eligibility for the tax exemption is dependent on several factors, including age or disability status, home ownership and residency, and income levels. For those who qualify, the benefits are significant: no repayment of the exempted taxes and no property liens.
The first enrollment event will be held at the Luepke/Marshall Center, located at 1009 E McLoughlin Blvd., next Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Specialists will be on hand to walk homeowners through the application process, ensure they meet the necessary criteria, and answer any questions about the program.
A second opportunity for assistance will be provided on Friday, June 6, at the Evergreen Public Schools administrative building, at 13413 NE LeRoy Haagen Memorial Drive, also from 9 am to 3 pm. The county encourages interested parties to schedule an appointment by calling 564.397.2391 or emailing [email protected], though walk-ins, too, are welcome.
Homeowners planning to attend either event should bring along essential documents including a photo ID, federal tax return, W-2 and/or 1099 forms, and any relevant deduction documentation.
