Heads up, D.C. commuters and residents: It's about that time of year when we pay our respects to fallen law enforcement officers, which also means some disruptions in our daily travel. The 46th Annual Washington Area Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service is set to take place next Monday. Commemorating those who've made the ultimate sacrifice, the event also brings with it a host of road closures and parking restrictions that will be in effect from the early hours of the day until the early afternoon.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department's advisory, the following streets will be closed on Monday: D Street from 3rd Street to 4th Street, NW; Indiana Avenue from 4th Street to 5th Street, NW; and 4th Street from E Street to Indiana Avenue, NW. The closures will be specifically in effect from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Therefore, those planning to venture into the city should look for alternate routes or, better yet, use the metro.

But that's not all—parking is equally affected by the day's ceremonies. Sharing the road's fate, the same stretches of D Street, Indiana Avenue, and 4th Street will also be flanked with signs declaring Emergency No Parking, effective during the same hours as the closures. Unattended vehicles left disregarding these restrictions are likely to be towed, adding an extra layer of complication to your day should you decide to risk it.
