
A 26-year-old West Palm Beach man named Nicholas Lue has been indicted on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Jesse Banks, aged 28, which occurred outside the Cali Rose 15 Kitchen in Lakeland. the incident having stemmed from a violent altercation last week that also left Lue wounded, according to WFLA.
Reports indicate that the conflict began with a heated verbal exchange between Banks and Lue, and a 24-year-old identified as Tre D’Shon Huntly, whereby Banks allegedly struck Huntly first but it was Lue who then escalated the situation by drawing a firearm on the younger man according to FOX 13 News, during this unfolding narrative Huntly, who was carrying his own weapon, responded by shooting both Banks and Lue, ultimately leading to Banks' death and Lue's subsequent hospitalization and then his arrest.
Both WFLA and FOX 13 News corroborate that the 24-year-old shooter who allegedly acted in self-defense, cooperated with law enforcement investigations, resulting in no charges filed against him. As reported by WTSP, witnesses stated the deadly encounter escalated after a verbal altercation turned into a physical confrontation, with Huntly being struck on the head by Banks before the situation rapidly descended into gunfire.
The shooting, which took place around 9:30 p.m. last Thursday, led to both Banks and Lue being transported to Lakeland Regional Health where Banks succumbed to his injuries, while Lue was treated for gunshot wounds and later charged with second-degree murder, as he allegedly had initiated the fatal sequence of events that led to Banks' death, a chain of cause and effect interlinked by the pull of a trigger, the surge of adrenaline, and the irreversible silence of a life extinguished.
