In a heartfelt assembly on May 24, Whitehorse High School marked the passage of 34 graduates, who are embarking on a journey that extends beyond the school's corridors. Principal Kim Schaeffer lauded the class as the year's kindest, underlined by their impressive number of early graduations. "This class didn’t think of their celebration as an end to a chapter, rather as a beginning," Schaeffer highlighted in an interview captured by the Office of the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation.
At the gathering, comedian Pax Harvey took to the podium, imploring graduates to boldly embrace their futures. Harvey stressed, "Education will take you around the world, I want you to explore. Did you know you can leave Montezuma? Yes you can pass Ute Mountain, you can pass Shiprock, you can go further than that—because one day one of you will be sitting right there," pointing to his seat, according to the same source.
Emphasizing the enduring challenges of life, Harvey provided a realist's perspective to the young audience, saying, "Like Dr. Buu Nygren said, the world is not gonna get easier."
