The City of Winder has clinched the title for the best-tasting tap water in Georgia, with its sample from the Highway 53 Water Treatment Plant outshining all others at the state-level competition, according to WSB-TV.
After triumphing at the district level, Winder's water went toe-to-toe with 16 other utilities and emerged victorious, illustrating the city's commitment to quality and taste; an accomplishment Mayor Jimmy Terrell views as a collective point of pride, he said, "Being named the best-tasting water in Georgia is something every resident of Winder can be proud of," and he shared with WSB-TV, "Our water doesn’t just meet the highest standards—it stands out across the entire state."
Further acclaim comes from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, which awarded Winder and ESG Operations the Platinum Award recognizing no permit violations in regards to maximum containment levels or NPDES permit violations over the last year, an impressive seventh consecutive win as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.
Ahead lies the national stage in Denver, Colorado, where Winder's celebrated tap water will contend for national honors at the American Water Works Association’s competition in June, following the city's previous win in 2014, this time rallying from a district victory in 2023 but falling short against the City of Macon, their stories paint an ongoing quest for excellence in the mundane but vital resource that is tap water.
