A $1,000 reward is being offered for information on a shooting that occurred in Downtown Detroit just before the grand display of the Ford Fireworks on Monday night. The incident left a 17-year-old male and a 22-year-old female with serious injuries, and police are urgently seeking tips that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects involved. According to ClickOnDetroit, the violence erupted just after 10 p.m. near Larned and Randolph streets, disrupting what was meant to be a celebratory evening.
Detroit police reported that the confrontation started with an altercation between a young man, whose age has not been disclosed, and the 17-year-old boy. The skirmish escalated when a gun was drawn, and both the teen and the bystander, a young woman, were shot. After the shooting, the suspect and an accomplice reportedly fled the scene through a nearby parking garage. For those who might have seen something, or know something, there's now a financial incentive to come forward. The authorities are providing a tip line — the Detroit Police Department can be reached at 313-267-4600 and Crime Stoppers are available at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
Detroit Rewards TV also shared a social media post emphasizing the urgency of community assistance in identifying the two men involved in the initial fight. Images of the suspects were released to the public in the hopes that someone will recognize them and aid the police in their investigation. The post stressed that both victims are in temporary serious condition.
