A school security guard has been taken into custody following a disturbing revelation that he engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor. According to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Deshawn Mitchell of Adelanto, was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation into his conduct at Columbia Middle School. The incident report from the Sheriff's Department cited by detectives details a charge of PC 288(a) – Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14 and states that Mitchell's bail is set at $250,000.
The inquiry, led by the department's Specialized Investigations Division - Crimes Against Children Detail, alongside the Victor Valley Station, began to swiftly unfold after allegations surfaced. Mitchell served as a substitute security guard at the school, a fact that underscores the vulnerability of the institution to have been potentially quickly taken advantage of by someone in a position of authority. The detectives' coordinated effort with the Adelanto Elementary School District aimed to ensure that no stone was left unturned in the pursuit of justice for the unidentified juvenile victim.
As the case progresses, the authorities are calling for public support in gathering further information. The statement from the Sheriff's Department emphasizes this need, inviting community members to reach out to Detective Marissa Pope with any information that might contribute to the ongoing investigation.
