The city of Aurora is grappling with the mystery of two separate, yet possibly connected stabbings that resulted in the deaths of two men early Sunday morning. 9News reported that the first incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on the 1500 block of North Moline Street. Responding, Aurora Police found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk presenting a fatal stab wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Not long after, a similar grisly scene was discovered several blocks east, and the second victim was located at a bus stop on Peoria Street just south of Colfax Avenue. This man, similarly beset by stab wounds and unresponsive, was also pronounced dead on-scene at around 6:30 a.m., as covered by The Denver Gazette. Both locations, while miles apart, are stirring concerned conversations among residents and authorities alike over the nature and potential connection of these violent acts.
As of the latest update, Aurora Police have not identified a suspect or suspects in either death. Situated four miles north of the first crime scene, the timeline of the attacks, coupled with the similar circumstances, has prompted an in-depth investigation into whether these incidents are related or simply a confluence of tragic events. CBS News Colorado has noted that as of 11 a.m. Sunday morning, investigators have not yet released information regarding the identity or motive of the assailant or assailants behind these crimes.
