The City of Aurora is calling upon its residents to speak up about the housing challenges they face, as it embarks on the development of its Five-Year Consolidated Plan for 2025-2029, a planning document that will set priorities for allocating federal funds targeted at improving the living conditions for its low to moderate-income populations. According to the City of Aurora, this plan is backed by federal funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and aims to address not just affordable housing needs but also homelessness prevention, community development, neighborhood improvements, and ensuring fairness and equal access to housing.
Voicing these housing concerns in Aurora has been made convenient for its residents with an open survey available in both English and Spanish, the survey can be found online at EngageAurora.org/ConPlan and will remain open through June 30, or individuals can also provide their input by dropping by any of the city's public libraries or recreation centers where the survey can be completed in person. In addition to the survey method, there’s also a public hearing scheduled to take place where residents can provide in-person input on July 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Aurora Municipal Center, demonstrating the city's commitment to incorporating a diverse range of voices in the planning process.
