Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek has just added a fluffy bundle of joy to its family: a newborn red panda cub. Making its entrance into the world on June 11, this tiny creature marks the first offspring for the red panda Garnet, as reported by WWMT. The father, named Justin, can still be seen strutting his stuff in the red panda habitat, enticing zoo guests with his charismatic presence.
While the cub's mother and it are bonding in a private space, zoo aficionados can try to catch a "quiet look" at the new arrival through a viewing window. However, the zoo has made no promises that visitors will be able to see the cub. "You may or may not catch a live glimpse of the baby through the viewing window—no promises, but it's always worth a quiet look!" the zoo shared in a social media post, according to Binder Park Zoo's Facebook page.
In line with maintaining a peaceful environment for the newborn and Garnet, the zoo is urging visitors to keep their voices down near the red panda area and refrain from tapping on the glass. This request comes from the zoo's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of its animals, particularly during such a sensitive time as the early stages of a cub's life. Both parents, Justin and Garnet, had previously moved to Binder Park Zoo from Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend, Indiana, last year, as noted by WOODTV.
