
A fire broke out at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex on Wednesday evening, prompting a response from the Oklahoma City Fire Department. KFOR reported that the fire occurred near N Western Avenue and NW 82nd Street, with heavy flames coming from the second floor. Five people were injured, including one firefighter. Three residents jumped from the building to escape the fire.
Oklahoma City Fire Department Shift Commander David Shearer said two buildings were affected and are likely total losses. According to KOCO, 12 apartment units were destroyed by the fire. Two women were injured after jumping from the building, with one in critical condition and the other in serious condition. One of the women was caught by a bystander.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department evacuated all residents as crews worked to control the fire. Injuries were reported, but all individuals were removed from immediate danger. A statement from OKC FOX said, "Three individuals attempted to escape the fire by jumping from the building." The cause of the fire is still under investigation as the Oklahoma City Fire Department reviews the scene. Two people were treated for injuries and later released. Firefighters contained the fire, and recovery efforts are now underway.
