The Boston Police Department's Drug Control Unit arrested a man in Dorchester on Tuesday last week, in connection with suspected crack cocaine distribution.

According to the Boston Police Department, the arrest followed surveillance near 6 Lyndhurst Street, where officers observed 44-year-old Bodio Hutchinson allegedly involved in drug activity. An undercover officer used marked money to make a purchase, which led to Hutchinson’s arrest. Police recovered the purchased substance and the marked money.

During the arrest, officers found approximately 16 grams of crack cocaine packaged in 30 small bags and one medium bag. The drugs were located near Hutchinson’s seat and inside a cigarette box, according to police.

Hutchinson is facing charges including distribution of a Class B substance (crack cocaine), possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, and possession with intent to distribute Class B (Subsequent Offense), indicating prior related offenses. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

Police noted the arrest was part of a response to neighborhood concerns about drug activity.
