On the afternoon of Tuesday, a significant drug arrest took place in Boston's Allston/Brighton neighborhood, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs and thousands of dollars in cash. According to a report from the Boston Police Department, officers from the Drug Control Unit of District D-14 arrested 42-year-old Dante Starks on multiple drug-related charges after witnessing what appeared to be a drug transaction near Harvard and Commonwealth Avenues.
The arrest occurred as part of an investigation where officers observed an individual, later identified as Starks, navigating an electric scooter in a manner that caught their attention. When Starks stopped at 370 Western Avenue, law enforcement maintained surveillance and soon saw an apparent hand-to-hand drug transaction. The exchange led to detaining two individuals, one who was promptly found to be in possession of crack cocaine and later received a summons for drug possession. Meanwhile, Starks attempted to refuse compliance when officers approached him in his vehicle.
A struggle ensued when officers tried to take Starks into custody, as he pushed against them and resisted arrest. Eventually, after officers issued several commands, he was handcuffed. A search of his person and vehicle followed, uncovering an array of illicit substances: cocaine, crack cocaine, Adderall, and various non-prescription pills totaling over 1,600 grams. Equipment and cash related to drug trafficking—including a money counter, digital scales, drug packaging material, and approximately $16,966—were also found.
Starks now faces multiple charges, among them Trafficking of Class B, Distribution of Class B, five counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C, two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class E, and Resisting Arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court. The outcomes of these procedures represent a commitment to thoroughly disrupt illegal drug operations within the local communities.
