Residents and commuters in Brighton can expect some disruptions as the city kicks off a significant water pipeline replacement project in the vicinity of Egbert Street and Southern Street. According to the City of Brighton Utilities Department, the work will be done in partnership with Wagner Construction, Inc., and will focus on replacing old and insufficient water lines. Traffic will be impacted, and the city is putting in place traffic control measures to manage the flow around the construction zones.
The first phase of closures will be seen on Bush Street, stretching from S. 6th Avenue to S. 7th Avenue, with short-term closures anticipated for the connection of essential infrastructure. Signs will be posted to guide the detours needed during this time. As obtained by the City of Brighton Utilities Department, officials outlined these details, ensuring that disruptions would be minimized wherever possible.
Approximately 7,500 feet of pipeline are set to be replaced, upgrading the water service's reliability and quality for local customers. Not just pipelines, but also fire hydrants and valves that have reached the end of their life will be seeing a replacement. The Utilities Department has broadcast that residents may face minor water service interruptions. However, they will provide notice in advance to those affected.
Access to homes and driveways should be maintained during the eight-month project span, with the contractor responsible for communicating any impact to residents in the project area. These efforts are part of the city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining essential services and infrastructure for its community, ensuring a continuous supply of high-quality water.
