A tragic hit-and-run incident in Brooklyn last month has led to the arrest of 28-year-old Chaquasia Pigford, accused of the death of a pregnant woman. Pigford was charged Wednesday with a slew of offenses, including murder, manslaughter, and reckless driving, as per the NYPD via PIX11.

On the fateful night of May 24, Tiffany Cifuni, 32, was struck and dragged allegedly by Pigford's Chevy Trax after Cifuni exited her Toyota 4Runner post-collision. In the wake of the initial impact at Van Buren Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard, the Brooklyn driver, after hitting the pregnant woman, collided with a parked Volkswagen SUV and then a Jeep Grand Cherokee, further injuring another driver, as reported by AM New York.

The sequence of events began when Cifuni's vehicle was hit from behind. Upon stepping out to assess the damage, Pigford allegedly hit the gas and struck Cifuni from behind, dragging her for a distance before speeding off. Cifuni was later pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital due to the injuries she suffered during the incident.

In the aftermath, the Chevy Trax engaged in a reckless pathway against the traffic on Lafayette Avenue before it crashed and the driver fled on foot. Following an investigation, Pigford was eventually apprehended. In her defense, while being led out of the 81st Precinct's stationhouse, she told the press, "It wasn’t me. It was the person who owns the vehicle." Her arraignment was scheduled for the following Wednesday, as reported by AM New York.
