A Capitol Hill man has been taken into custody following a disconcerting discovery of thousands of images and videos of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), as reported by Seattle Police Department's Blotter. The 38-year-old was arrested at his job after a Seattle Police Department (SPD) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit investigation, which was prompted by multiple CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The SPD ICAC Unit, together with the Washington State ICAC Task Force, embarked on a monthslong inquiry into the suspect's activities, discovering his habit of creating new online accounts across various platforms for the purpose of distributing this illegal material, a move that eventually led to a search warrant being served at his residence.

Upon his arrest on Westlake Avenue in South Lake Union, the individual admitted to possessing an alarming collection numbering over 15,000 CSAM files; this troubling acknowledgment was further substantiated by the discovery of additional materials across several devices within his apartment. The suspect was booked on charges of dealing in and possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and was placed in King County Jail.

Seattle police are diligently continuing their probe, currently monitoring NCMEC CyberTips to identify any further connections to the man’s actions, with the painstaking task of combing through the volume of digital evidence being carried out by specially trained ICAC investigators, demonstrating the unnervingly meticulous nature of such investigations.
