Last week, the Cedar Hill Police Department announced the culmination of its tenth annual Youth Summit - a three-day event designed to build relationships between law enforcement officers and local youth. More than 60 kids attended the summit, which featured interactive sessions with the department's drone and K9 teams, radar races, fingerprint dusting activities, and an educational 'court jeopardy' game, as per the Cedar Hill Police Department.
While the summit centered on law enforcement education, the kids and officers also engaged in lighter activities, enjoying kickball, dodgeball, and arguably a bit too much enthusiasm during the water slide and paintball shooting sessions. Garnering extensive support from the local community, Cedar Hill Police Department extends its gratitude to Newman International Academy for providing the venue, Cedar Hill High School's Graphic Design class for creating this year's event t-shirts, and the numerous volunteers and sponsors who contributed breakfast, lunch, snacks, prizes, and materials.
The department has already expressed eagerness for next year's summit, inviting community members interested in supporting the initiative to get in touch with Sgt Novian-Hodgson for further information. The apparent success of this year's event reaffirms the department's commitment to fostering a positive connection with the youth in Cedar Hill, to demystify the work of law enforcement, and establish a foundation of mutual understanding and respect.
