
A homicide probe is underway following a late-night shooting in University City, as confirmed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Initial reports emerged from an official statement early this morning, following an incident that unraveled yesterday night.
Officers were called to the scene at about 11:26 p.m. on Hyde Pointe Court upon receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. After arriving, they found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Barely breathing, MEDIC rushed the injured party to a local hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the victim has been withheld pending family notification.
Detective Barnett from the Homicide Unit is overseeing the investigation, as noted in the CMPD public notice. CMPD’s Crime Scene Search team arrived at the scene shortly after the detectives, tasked with collecting evidence and piecing together the evening's events.
