Bookworms and film buffs in Chatham County can rejoice as the local public libraries are bringing entertainment right to their fingertips. Announced recently, as reported by the official Chatham County news release, the Chatham County Public Libraries have swung the doors wide open to Kanopy, a video streaming service that promises access to over 30,000 visual titles. Think of it – feature films, documentaries, must-see TV series, and even educational videos – all accessible for the lovely price of absolutely nothing to library card holders.
Film lovers with a valid library card can now access Kanopy, a streaming service available through Chatham County Libraries. The platform works on various devices, including smartphones and smart TVs. Users can start streaming by visiting the library's website or using the Kanopy app. The service includes accessibility features like closed captions and transcripts, and it is free to use.
Each library patron receives 15 viewing credits per month on Kanopy. Films and shows use between one and four credits each. Unused credits do not carry over to the next month, so they must be used by the end of each month.
This initiative by the library is designed to provide broader access to cultural and educational content through technology. With an active library card, users can access Kanopy and stream a variety of films and educational programs. Chatham County Public Libraries' digital services, including Kanopy, offer convenient access to arts, education, and entertainment for the community.
