If you're in the Wake Forest area and looking to participate in some local philanthropy with a touch of celebration, mark your calendar for the ChurchNet Foundation's 20th anniversary event this Thursday. The celebration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., and will feature an evening of music, hors d'oeuvres, and community spirit, according to the Town of Wake Forest's announcement.
Festivities will kick off with remarks from Mayor Vivian Jones, and Anne Packett, ChurchNet's president, who, will share the stages – both the concrete and the metaphorical – in the reflection of ChurchNet's milestones. It's an occasion to acknowledge not only the foundation itself but the bedrock of volunteers and partners that have upheld its mission. "ChurchNet Foundation – A Celebration of 20 Years of Service to the Community" is open to the public, ready to serve up both reflection and forward momentum in communal camaraderie, as mentioned by the Town of Wake Forest.
Since its inception in 2005, ChurchNet, a charitable 501(c)3 organization, has aimed its efforts at alleviating the financial pressures of essential needs. It caters to those caught between the hard place of deciding whether to keep the lights on or to fill a vital prescription. And it's a testament to local solidarity that the Town of Wake Forest didn't just witness ChurchNet's rise but walked hand-in-hand with the initiative through the H.O.P.E. program – Helping Others by Providing Electricity.
In this synergistic dance, the town has facilitated gathering donations from both residents and businesses, a fiscal stream that flows directly towards those in need, as per ChurchNet's directive. In this enterprise, every cent, does more than just count – it compounds into a lifeline, directly offsetting utility bills for Wake Forest Power customers in need. "100 percent of the donated funds are used to pay Wake Forest Power utility bills," Mayor Vivian Jones said, underscoring the no-frills, direct-impact approach of the assistance program, as per the Town of Wake Forest.
