As the new school year approaches, Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) has announced revised start times for nine of its schools in an effort to streamline transportation and cut costs, FOX19 reports. In a recent move approved by the Board of Education, the district aims to improve on-time status and service for students and families. The district also maintains the promise to provide bus service for those living a mile or more from their neighborhood school.

Changes in start times include the adjustment of the school day at AWL and Rockdale Academy, which will now begin at 7:40 a.m. and end at 2:10 p.m., previously from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., according to a list published by LOCAL12. On the other hand, some institutions, such as Roselawn Condon School and North Avondale Montessori School, are set to start later, moving from an 8:50 a.m. start to a 9:10 a.m. kickoff, with a 3:40 p.m. finish, a shift designed to support transportation efficiency within the city's network.

Among other schools seeing a change, James N. Gamble Montessori High School students will have to adjust to an earlier routine, as their day will now commence at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m., a shift from the previous schedule of 8:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m., this adjustment stands as a reflection of CPS's endeavor to reel in the sprawling and often inefficacious itineraries that have long dictated the rhythms of school buses, and by extension, the lives of the families connected by them. The full roster of changes for the 2025-26 academic year directly impacts the quotidian flow–or perhaps the quotidian scramble–for thousands within the district's fold.
