The Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is stepping up its game by joining forces with GovWorx, introducing AI simulations into its training regimen. This strategic move positions Cobb 911 as the pioneer in Georgia to leverage such a tech-powered approach for preparing emergency operators, as reported by Cobb County Government's communications.

With CommsCoach Simulations, developed by industry experts boasting a quarter-century of field experience, DEC's trainees are set to encounter the intense and unpredictable nature of 911 calls in a risk-free simulated environment, where dynamics from background noise to distressed callers as a part of their onboarding process, the county's latest recruit class is on track to dive into this next-level educational platform soon. Simultaneously, the DEC training team can shift its attention toward nurturing decision-making skills rather than staging traditional role-plays.

The partnership aligns well with Cobb County 911's ethos of embracing innovation in the service of public safety. “This groundbreaking technology is a powerful step forward in how we prepare the next generation of 911 professionals,” Melissa Alterio, DEC Director, emphasized its impact. According to Cobb County Government's announcement, the AI tools from CommsCoach blend advanced training with the irreplaceable human traits of leadership and empathy as asserted by GovWorx CEO and Co-Founder, Scott MacDonald.

Cobb DEC, which serves more than 760,000 residents northwest of Atlanta and handles nearly a million emergency calls each year, is rolling out new training technology to support its busy operations.
