A construction worker was electrocuted while working on a light fixture at the QTS Data Center in Fayette County this past Saturday. The incident, which occurred early in the morning, sent shockwaves through the community and has since drawn scrutiny onto the safety measures in place at such worksites. The Fayette County Fire Chief Jeffrey Hill informed FOX5 Atlanta that the emergency crews responded to the site following the accident. According to Hill, upon arrival, the paramedics found the data center's medical staff administering CPR to an employee.

Fayette County Fire & Emergency Services detailed to 11Alive that the call for help was made around 10:33 a.m., after the worker, who was on a scissor-lift in a closet area, presumably made contact with energized wires. Witnesses reported a loud noise before finding the person partially hanging off the lifeline.

Advanced Life Support was performed by crews before the victim was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Chief Hill stated that the employee's spontaneous circulation was restored upon arrival at the hospital. However, an update on the worker's current condition was not provided, as clarity remains to be seen on the long-term effects of the accident.
