Early Tuesday morning, a fatal incident on the 101 Freeway in North Hollywood led to hours of closure. According to KTLA, a box truck and two other vehicles were involved in the crash that was reported around 2:20 a.m. near North Tujunga Avenue. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that there was at least one fatality but did not provide further details on any other injuries.

Commuters were forced to suddenly change their travel plans as the westbound lanes were completely shut down, creating substantial backlogs. The incident also affected transitions, with the westbound 134 Freeway's transition to the westbound 101 being closed, as mentioned in the CBS News Los Angeles report.

While the lanes were reopened by 7:30 a.m., officials from ABC7 noted that traffic was initially diverted to the northbound 170 Freeway to manage the congestion. The aftermath of the crash saw emergency crews and CHP officers working on the site, with images showing the box truck halted near the center divider and another vehicle in the far right lane with hazard lights on.

A second fatal crash occurred on the same freeway in Studio City, around 2:40 a.m., where a black sedan, a gray SUV, and a white semi-truck were involved, as reported by FOX LA. This collision led to the death of two individuals and prompted the issue of a SigAlert for the closure of all lanes leading to the Tujunga exit. Traffic from the 101 was diverted onto Magnolia Boulevard and Moorpark Street. The duration of this particular alert has yet to be confirmed.
