The City of Denton is providing its residents with an opportunity to weigh in on a proposed change that could reshape a slice of their neighborhood. A public hearing has been slated for July 15 to discuss the rezoning of a 1.09-acre tract from a Residential 2 (R-2) District to a Mixed-Use Neighborhood (MN) District. This area is located on the north side of West University Drive, wedged between Willow Lane and Cottonwood Lane.
The proposed ordinance change could usher in a new phase of development for Denton, providing a mixed bag of residential and commercial use that proponents argue benefits the community's diversity and economic vibrancy. The City Council will gather input and consider the adoption of this ordinance, as detailed in a public notice from the City of Denton. According to the notice, violations of the ordinance could result in penalties up to $2,000.00.
97 Land Company, represented by Aimee Bissett, acts as the agent behind this rezoning request. Residents seeking more information or who wish to participate in the upcoming hearing can reach out directly to Bissett at 940-367-3089 or take advantage of the resources available at www.cityofdenton.com/publicmeetings.
