Denver residents should brace for a mix of weather conditions this week, as the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver reports a variety of forecasts starting with showers and thunderstorms later today. The National Weather Service reports a 70% chance of precipitation and the possibility of severe thunderstorms between noon and 4 pm, with strong gusts as high as 16 mph; meanwhile, highs are expected to reach a comfortable 75°F.
The evening cools down with only a 20 percent chance of rain before 8 pm, after which suddenly skies are expected to clear, leading to a partly cloudy night and lows hovering around a mild 55, while calm winds post-midnight will offer Denver folks a respite before the mercury begins to rise again. Through the following days, the NWS anticipates a warm stretch with Wednesday being sunny and highs nearing 85°F, picking up steam towards Juneteenth, which will see temperatures skyrocket to a scorching 96°F.
As the week progresses, the heat continues to intensify with the NWS forecasting "sunny and hot" conditions for Friday, with a high nearing an oppressive 101°F, and similar predictions for Saturday alongside breezy conditions. That hot weather is likely to return by late this week, with Thursday through Saturday experiencing high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, according to the Hazardous Weather Outlook provided by the NWS.
Those hoping for respite from the heat might find some comfort as the forecast hints at a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, following a sunny Sunday with high temperatures nearing 95°F, cooling down at night to around 60°F. Yet, earlier in the week, there is a specific warning from the NWS to watch for "strong to severe storms" with large hail and damaging wind gusts (up to 70 mph) being the main hazards especially in regions like Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, and northern Washington counties; residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant.
