As voters in Douglas County head to the polls today for the 2025 special election, those in need of assistance have access to resources ensuring their right to participate is upheld. Until the polls close at 7 p.m., Douglas County is extending a helping hand through its Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC). In a press release earlier this morning, officials highlighted that anyone needing to register or update a registration, replace a mail ballot, vote in person, or use an ADA-accessible voting machine can visit any of the three available VSPCs.
Accessibility is a cornerstone of the services provided, with each VSPC not only offering ADA parking but also equipment tailored to assist voters with disabilities. Audio ballots are available for voters with blindness or low vision, and for those requiring more personalized aid, the option to bring someone to assist or to request help from an election judge is readily available. "Voters with blindness or low vision have the option to listen to an audio ballot," as cited by Douglas County, emphasizing the inclusivity of the voting experience.
For citizens who've already decided on their candidates and issues, Douglas County provides 21 ballot drop boxes across the area, facilitating easy and convenient submission of their votes. But the clock is ticking, as noted by Douglas County, ballots must be received by mail, dropped off in a designated box, or submitted in person by exactly 7 p.m. on Election Day, June 24, to be counted. Remember, a mere postmark of today's date will not suffice for validation.
