Tejon Street is set for a series of closures to pave the way for the Tejon Street Revitalization Project's new stormwater pipeline infrastructure. Beginning June 16, both northbound and southbound stretches of Tejon between Colorado and Pikes Peak Avenues will be off-limits, as crews get to work installing those pipelines, a disruption slated to last until June 27, according to the City of Colorado Springs.

The construction stew thickens from June 23 to July 2, when Colorado Springs Utilities jumps in to relocate a natural gas main to accommodate the new stormwater pipeline and that’s not all because in what can only be described as a tangled dance of urban infrastructure management, during this period southbound Tejon is set to shutter from Kiowa Street down to Pikes Peak Avenue; meanwhile, northbound traffic will maintain a single thread of movement, flowing only between Kiowa Street and Pikes Peak Avenue.

As the city orchestrates these subterranean symphonies, local traffic will need to navigate a few more interruptions. Eastbound Pikes Peak Avenue between Cascade Avenue and South Tejon Street will also wave goodbye to its regular traffic patterns, remaining accessible solely to locals needing entry to parking, the U.S. Bank, or businesses lying west of South Tejon Street. And while westbound Pikes Peak Avenue will keep its stream running from South Nevada Avenue to South Cascade Avenue, any hopes for street parking on the west side of Tejon (between East Kiowa Street and Pikes Peak Avenue) will be dashed, with restrictions also extending to the stretch between Pikes Peak and Colorado Avenues.
