A Duxbury man has been arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly threatening a woman with what appeared to be a handgun. According to the Duxbury Police Department's Facebook page, the incident occurred on Friday night last week at the East Lot of Duxbury Beach.
Police say the woman approached 28-year-old Nicholas Haddad, who then allegedly pointed a handgun at her. Based on the victim’s description, officers located Haddad’s black Nissan as it was leaving the parking lot and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Haddad was detained without incident.
During the investigation, Haddad told officers the weapon was a BB gun. Police recovered a replica Glock airsoft gun that closely resembled a real firearm, along with a second similar replica inside the vehicle. The replica included brand markings, a functioning slide, and a removable magazine.
Haddad stated he pointed the gun after the woman shone a flashlight in his face. He now faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.
The Duxbury Police Department noted that replica firearms can pose serious risks when used in public due to their realistic appearance.
