In the early morning hours, a fire ripped through a Roxbury building, leading to one hospitalization and the displacement of several residents. The Boston Fire Department responded to flames visible on the third and fourth floors of 971 Tremont St. around 3:30 a.m., where they initiated an aggressive attack through the rear stairs to control the situation, according to NBC Boston.
Fire Chief Rayshawn Johnson reported the blaze and its subsequent fallout to the media, confirming that one individual was in need of medical support and was subsequently transported to Boston Medical Center; however, the fire left 12 adults and two children without a home, now under the care of the Red Cross, this comes from a post by the Boston Fire Dept. on social media. The estimated damage to the mixed-use building stands at a staggering $500,000.

The cause of the fire is still being probed by officials, as noted by both the Boston Fire Department and NBC Boston's coverage of the incident. The community's response to the event, including efforts to assist those affected, has begun to coalesce as the Red Cross and other local organizations spring into action to provide aid and essential services in the fire's aftermath.
