
In the wake of the tragic Pearl Street Mall attack in Boulder, Colorado, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal has expressed his solemn condolences and strong condemnation of the violent event. Sheriff Roybal's sentiments were shared in a statement that detailed his office's collaborative efforts with local and federal authorities in addressing the aftermath of the calamity, highlighted by the rapid response of his deputies in aiding the Boulder Police Department and the FBI.
"My Office mourns alongside the victims and their families following the tragic and senseless act of violence which occurred yesterday in Boulder," Sheriff Roybal said, as per the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. Further emphasizing the joint mission to maintain community safety, the sheriff recognized the earnest efforts of all first responders at the scene. The cooperation was indicative of the readiness to secure a residence linked to the investigation swiftly.
The sheriff also took a moment to reflect on previous contacts with a person of interest in connection with the attack. "Since December 2022, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has received three non-criminal calls for service to the residence on Washo Circle in unincorporated El Paso County, and four contacts, all of which were traffic stops, involving 45-year-old Mohamed Sabry Soliman," as obtained by El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, without suggesting any direct insights into the ongoing investigation.
