Stepping into a blend of tradition and community spirit, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office started the event season with a symbol of Western heritage. At the heart of downtown Colorado Springs, within the walls of the Pioneers Museum, Sergeant Jeremy Juhl of the sheriff’s Mounted Unit accepted a commemorative token, on behalf of Sheriff Joseph Roybal, from members of the Western Street Breakfast committee.
The gesture, encapsulating more than a simple exchange of memorabilia, marks the commencement of a series of local events that celebrate the region's Western identity. Among these events are the Guns and Hoses City Slicker Rodeo, the Western Street Breakfast itself, and the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. The sheriff's Mounted Unit, with its august presence, not only leads the cowboy procession but also hoists the Colors during the National Anthem. "It’s an exciting time of year for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office," said Sheriff Joseph Roybal, as per the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Rooted in community engagement, these events offer locals the opportunity to interact with deputies and the newly sworn posse members, easily spotted by their distinctive cowboy hats.
