An elderly couple in Arlington has been found dead with gunshot wounds in what authorities believe to be an isolated incident. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that the two individuals, said to be between the ages of 75 and 80, were discovered Wednesday morning in their home by a caretaker. The scene painted by officers from the Sheriff's Office was one of quiet tragedy, tucked away on Clements Woods Lane.
Details provided by First Coast News indicate the couple was found unresponsive around 7:40 a.m. and were pronounced dead at the scene from their injuries. A weapon was located in the home, and although the full story behind the deaths is still unfolding, the Sheriff's Office is not actively searching for suspects.
Further reporting by News4Jax revealed that the incident is being investigated as a potential case of murder-suicide. This speculation, while unconfirmed, is supported by the current lack of a manhunt for any additional parties involved in the deaths. Officials have yet to release the identities of the deceased pending notification of family members.
The Jacksonville community has been left to wrestle with the reality of two of its elders meeting such a violent end. The couple's caretaker, who reportedly last saw them the day before the grim discovery, was the one who alerted authorities according to information from Action News Jax.
