Everett is set to host a day-long Independence Day celebration with a parade, festival, and fireworks display on July 4, announced by the City of Everett and its partners. Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin expressed the significance of the event in a statement saying, "It's very meaningful to be able to carry on these Fourth of July traditions that bring people together," highlighting the role of community and collaboration in the festivities. The free events are funded by hotel/motel tax revenues and sponsorships, with a detailed lineup outlined for residents and visitors, as per the City of Everett.
The city's parade will feature local organizations and bands starting at 11 a.m. on Colby Avenue, facilitated by the Everett July Fourth Foundation. A shuttle service from Everett Station to the event location will be available, starting at 9:30 a.m., offering an accessible way for attendees to join the celebrations. The festival, named the Colors of Freedom Festival, takes place at Legion Memorial Park from 3 p.m., complete with activities for children, live performances, and a dedicated beer garden for adults.
Musical acts such as R E P O S A D O and The Jaws of Brooklynn are scheduled to perform with the evening culminating in a fireworks show presented by Chick-fil-A Everett. The 18-minute display titled Thunder on the Bay will begin at dusk, with live audio synchronization from KXA/KRKO. While the event is set to provide an array of entertainment options, city officials remind citizens that personal fireworks remain illegal within Everett, encouraging attendees to enjoy the professional display for safety.
For those concerned about the well-being of their pets during the noisy celebrations, the city recommends keeping animals indoors and providing distractions where possible. Parking at Legion Park is not available due to the event, however, free parking is offered at Everett Community College with shuttle services to the park. Attendees can find more information on logistics and shuttle times by visiting the event's 'Getting Here' page.
