The Collierville community is responding to the indictment of Brent Price, a former librarian assistant at Collierville Elementary School, on child sex crime charges. These allegations have caused significant concern throughout the local area. FOX13 reports that Price is accused of possessing over 100 materials featuring minors engaged in sexual activity, with his indictment citing these offenses took place back in late July of the previous year.
Accused of trying to destroy evidence during an ongoing investigation, Price faces charges of tampering. Residents and parents have been left with poignant questions, with one resident, quoted by FOX13, asking "Why did it take so long?" to lead to an arrest.
The indictment was handed down last Tuesday, but Price had already been separated from the school. Local Memphis confirms that Price, 37, was indicted following an investigation by Collierville Police in cooperation with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. His bond is set at $100,000, and he remains in custody at 201 Poplar.
The day after Brent Price’s arrest, the district sent a message to the parents of Collierville Elementary, as reported by FOX13. Meanwhile, a parent voiced the community’s concerns by asking, "How does somebody like that get a job in the first place?" This question has put the district’s hiring procedures for individuals working near children under close scrutiny. Despite efforts to clarify the timeline surrounding Price’s leave of absence and resignation, Collierville Schools had not responded to these inquiries at the time of the report.
